An attractive natural polished obsidian from Mexico in a decorative shape, standing out with its deep black color, smooth glossy surface and distinctive glass-like appearance. In some pieces, subtle optical effects may appear when light hits the surface – green, blue, violet, golden or silver reflections. Thanks to its high polish, elegant shape and natural dark color, obsidian has a very refined, clean and striking appearance.
Obsidian is a natural volcanic glass formed by the rapid cooling of silica-rich lava. It is therefore not a classic crystal in the strict mineralogical sense, but an amorphous glassy rock with a high SiO2 content. This glassy structure gives obsidian its typical luster, smooth fracture and ability to form highly attractive polished decorative shapes.
Classic black obsidian is valued for its deep black color and mirror-like shine. Rainbow obsidian can show colored layers in shades of green, blue, violet or pink under suitable lighting. Silver obsidian displays a fine metallic grey to silvery effect, while gold obsidian may show warm golden reflections. Snowflake obsidian is recognized by its light grey-white “snowflakes”, formed by small crystalline structures within the dark glassy material.

Polished obsidian is suitable as a collector stone, natural decoration, representative interior object or aesthetic mineral piece for a display cabinet. It stands out best on a light background or under side lighting, which highlights its shine and, in rainbow, silver or gold varieties, also its natural optical effects.
Although obsidian is compact, as volcanic glass it can be sensitive to strong impacts, dropping and chipping along the edges. It is advisable to protect it from hard mechanical damage, aggressive chemicals and abrasive cleaning. For normal care, a dry or slightly damp soft cloth without strong pressure is sufficient.
1 piece = 1 original. With this natural obsidian, the actual appearance of the individual specimen is decisive – shape, luster, shade of black, possible rainbow, silver or gold effect, natural pattern, snowflake structure and the overall aesthetics of the polished stone.
