This beautiful sky blue stone is a variety of the igneous rock pectolite. The only place in the world where this rare mineral is found is a mountainous area on the island of Hispaniola in the Dominican Republic. Larimar is therefore one of the rarest (and most highly valued) minerals. This stone is often associated with dolphins and is therefore also called the Dolphin Stone.

Larimar is a rare blue-white variety of the mineral pectolite, which is found only in one place in the world - in the province of Barahona in the southwest of the Dominican Republic.
It is valued for its unique color reminiscent of the sea, sky and tropical lagoons of the Caribbean.

Each piece of Larimar is an original natural creation, the blue shades of which are created by the natural content of copper, which replaces part of the calcium in pectolite.
It is this chemical element that causes the characteristic blue to turquoise color and often fine white marbling.
Composition (chemical formula):

NaCa₂Si₃O₈(OH) – pectolite with an admixture of copper (Cu), which affects the color of the mineral.
Location of occurrence:

Dominican Republic, Barahona province – the only known location in the world.
